Have you ever heard the term “ghosting”? Basically, it means ending a relationship by stopping all communication, usually suddenly and without explanation. You definitely don’t want to “ghost” your audience or be a “launch ghost”. Consumers today are bombarded with so much content, sales, and information, people will not remember you after months of silence. That’s why it’s so important to regularly communicate with your audience so that you’re on their mind for launches, product sales, and online events. Here are the 4 best ways to stay connected with your audience to create a lasting relationship.

Social Media

This is the big one! Whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, or somewhere else, make sure you’re regularly communicating on the social media network where your audience is hanging out. Go live on Facebook or Instagram to share an update, post photos of your artwork, and ask engaging questions and respond to comments. If this seems time consuming, utilize a social media scheduler to plan and manage your posts so that your content is consistent.

Emails

Consistently showing up in your audience’s inbox is a great way to stay connected. You can choose to send weekly email updates on what’s going on with your business, or you can choose to send monthly newsletters that provide value with tips, tricks, and other resources. Most people’s inboxes are inundated with marketing messages, so it’s important that yours stand out from the crowd. Use fun subject lines, humorous GIFs, or graphics to keep it interesting.

Text Messages

Did you know that you could text your audience? SMS text messages are a great way to let your audience know the most important updates, and it’s a powerful communication tool. According to Gartner, SMS text messages are opened up to 98% of the time and emails are only opened 20% of the time. It’s easy to do, customizable, and completely automated. The key is not to overuse this communication tool and only text during normal business hours.

Blog Posts

Having blog posts on your website is a great way to communicate your knowledge and expertise to your audience. Use this space to detail your processes, tell your story, give important updates, or post a tutorial. This is more of a long-form communication tool where you can provide resources and invite your audience to comment on your blog posts to start a conversation.

It’s important to consistently communicate with your audience and stay connected, keeping them in the loop and keeping you at the top of their mind. You don’t want to “ghost” your audience and only communicate with them when you are launching something or trying to sell them something. It’s a good idea to always be marketing your business and building solid relationships with your audience, so that when the time comes, they are excited to buy from you.
