You don’t have to guess what your members are thinking or simply hope you are providing them with the content they would like – there’s an easier way that involves collecting member feedback. Using this feedback is important for targeting your workshops and content, building your community, and improving member retention and satisfaction. Here are three ways that you can successfully collect member feedback and use it to improve your membership.

Feedback Survey

Online surveys are easy to build and share with tools like Typeform, Survey Monkey, or Google Forms. You can create your own questions with a mix of multiple choice questions, yes-no questions, or open-ended questions. Using these types of surveys are great for providing anonymity and putting together easy-to-read data for yourself. They also work well for collecting impressions and thoughts immediately after an event, workshop, or challenge. Keep it short and simple to get the best response.

Beta Launches

Consider launching your membership in beta as a test to see what your audience likes and what your audience doesn’t like. In exchange for a discounted rate, beta members can give you valuable testimonials on their experience. Ask them questions and get their opinion. Then, use that information to improve your launch and make your membership exactly what your customer is looking for.

Simply Ask

One way to get the feedback you desire is to simply ask your members! Use your private membership forum or Facebook group to ask what your members would like to learn in the future, what they would change, what they love about their membership, and more. Use this information to shape your membership going forward. For example, if your members want to learn a particular skill, base a workshop around that topic in the future.

Collecting member feedback is not a one-time thing. It’s important to do this regularly and consistently, whether it’s an annual survey or a two-question email after an event. Make membership feedback a regular part of your audience communication, and use that feedback to make your membership the best it can be.
