Your sales page is your one-stop shop for all of the most important information for your leads – what you’re selling, why you’re selling it, how to buy, and why to buy. Every piece of your sales page needs to be optimized to make your customer feel like this purchase is the best idea ever. It needs to be attention-grabbing, informative, creative, and persuasive. Here are my top 4 tips for creating a sales page that lands the most conversions.

Understand your Audience

Knowing your audience is one of the most important factors in writing a successful sales page. One of the best ways to do this is creating a customer avatar using actual research, such as customer surveys, web analytics, and social media analytics. Once you have that information, you will understand what influences your audience, their pain points, challenges, and motivations. You can easily target your audience and speak to them in your sales page with this important information.

Create a Value Proposition

This is basically your elevator pitch to succinctly describe what you do and how you do it. This would ideally be a short sentence or statement that will guide the rest of your sales page copy. Here’s a fill-in-the-blank template: My (blank) helps (blank) to (blank) by (blank).

Here’s an example: My creative membership helps aspiring fiber artists to learn the basics of knitting and crocheting by teaching the ins and outs of working with yarn.

Having this statement ready to go will help guide you as you create and edit your sales page copy. Always look back to this sentence to make sure everything is aligned with your proposition.

Decide on your Pricing

Another huge benefit to knowing and understanding your audience is getting the pricing right. What do they normally purchase? What is their typical budget? What are they looking for? You also want to paint a very clear picture of everything your customer would be getting for that price. Stack perk upon perk until your customer feels like this is a no-brainer and that they would certainly be getting their money’s worth. Get very specific about the emotional and financial benefit of each aspect of your offer. You also want to make sure that the value of what you are providing aligns with the price. Don’t just base your rate on how much work it will take on your end or the number of hours it will take you to prepare.

Write Compelling Copy with Quality Design

Make sure your sales page includes compelling copy with attention-grabbing headlines, keywords, and helpful information. Write like you’re speaking to a friend and try not to be overly “salesy” or formal. It’s also key that the copy is scannable as many people will be quickly skimming your page to grab highlights. Use lots of bullet points, short paragraphs, and subheadings. Testimonials and a FAQ section are also standard for a good sales page.

Creating a powerful sales page is essential for launching a successful membership. It needs to be targeted to the right audience with researched information, pricing, copy, and design. Once you have a sales page in place, you can let it do the selling for you! This way you can focus on running your creative membership and the launch can (almost) take care of itself.
