Your customers’ experience begins as soon as they join your membership. They have just made a huge decision, and are now ready to get started learning from you! The worst thing you can do at this point is leave them hanging. First impressions are everything, and you want your new members to feel welcome and have all of the information they need. There are several ways to welcome your new members to ensure they get an amazing experience.

Send a Welcome Email

Make sure you have a trigger welcome email set up that sends as soon as someone joins your membership. This really sets the expectations for your membership, so make sure it includes everything they will need to get started. This includes things like log-in information, schedule, community to join (Facebook groups are great for this!), and any events they need to RSVP for. This is a great way to get them excited and remind your customer why they decided to join.

Make a Welcome Video

There are lots of websites you can use to create a welcome video for a personal touch. Our favorite tool to use for this is Bonjoro, which helps you send fast personal videos at just the right moment to sell, welcome your students, or just engage them. There’s nothing like a face-to-face welcome, and video makes it easy to achieve that level of genuine connection with your audience.

Host a New Members Virtual Meeting

Even if your welcome email contains everything that your new members may need, there is always something that is going to pop up that you may not have considered. To help your new members feel supported, host a new member’s virtual meeting where members can meet each other and get all of their questions answered. This can be on the schedule for a few weeks after your launch to help make them feel welcomed and part of the community.

Have a New Member Spotlight

Another great way to welcome new members is to have a new member spotlight. This can be added to an email newsletter or it can just be a post you create every week in your Facebook group. This helps your most recent members feel welcome, but it also gives your current members a chance to develop connections with new people.

A big part of having a membership is connecting with your members and nurturing your community. That really starts the minute that someone decides to join. Make sure your new members feel welcomed by taking the necessary steps to have certain systems in place, such as a welcome email trigger or a scheduled virtual meeting. These tips can go a long way to retaining your members and making them feel good about joining your community!
